We can hope so.
The court barred the state from using the 2011 redistricting plan — which established the current map — in the future and ordered it to adopt a new plan for use in the 2020 congressional elections.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan hailed the opinion. “This is a victory for the vast majority of Marylanders who want free and fair elections and the numerous advocates from across the political spectrum who have been fighting partisan gerrymandering in our state for decades,” he said in a statement.

Whewie...the stupid really sticks to you doesn't it?

Didn't bother to look at a map and see where the 6th Congressional District is in MD did you?

With all your education, you just naturally think that the 6th District must be next to the 5th??

So, Ivy League Lite, here is a recommendation...go the the court document that is linked in the Balt Sun article you posted...scroll down to page 9...

Uh, hey [insert derogatory term here], the 5th district cannot be redrawn without redrawing every other district, being they are all connected and the like. And the 6th district was gerrymandered as well back in the day to get 'ole Steny elected.

1st and 5th Districts will most likely not be affected. Four months is not a lot of time. They could go back to the pre-2010 census districts and do some minor tweaking in that abortion of districts between DC and Baltimore.

The best thing for MD would be that the Legislature drops the ball and the Court establishes their neutral commission.

There is no way in hell that gerrymandering in any form can change Maryland from a Democrat State.
It just cannot happen.

I don't believe anyone is saying it would. It may get MD back to a 6-2 split though.
