Overwintering a potted miniature rose bush

I have a miniature rose bush that has happily lived in a large pot on my patio all summer and in fact is still blooming. Should I keep it in the pot and hope for the best, bring it in, or plant it temporarily in the ground? Or maybe another option I haven't thought of should be considered. TIA!

I am not a rose grower in pots as this was a gift. I read some suggestions and just wanted to know what others have done.

I would suggest as much sun as possible and only slightly damp.

And...I forgot and left it to the elements in the pot. But in spite of my neglect, it is coming to life and sprouting new leaves.
