Conservative Groups targeted by Lois lerner's Scandal

3.5 Million dollars to be paid out BY TAXPAYERS.

Yes Lerner who is guilty as hell and free as a bird pays out nothing.
Taxpayers are paying for Lois Lerner's crime.I don't deny the organizations deserve to be paid back for the money they spent proving their case, but why is Lerner free. She should be serving time.

Maybe someone would clarify - wasn't the entire thing about taxes in the first place, that conservative groups were targeted so any tax credit they were entitled to,
was ignored or withheld? I thought that was what it was all about.

If that is the case, wouldn't the least thing they could do is give them what was taken - "tax" dollars they paid but were entitled to in the first place?

No, it was about the ability to register as tax-exempt. Thus, the group didn't have the protections of being tax exempt while waiting on recognition, such as protecting donors. So, it wasn't just not being tax exempt, it was the ability to raise funding anonymously, or, having donors be subject to being identified and thus under more corrupt scrutiny from the same corrupt IRS.

Ok, but - isn't that pretty much the same thing - that not being able to register as tax exempt meant, they had to PAY taxes others didn't have to?
Wouldn't the rational, sensible thing to do be, give them the "refund" they'd be entitled to - which essentially means, giving them their own money back?

No, it's more than that. It's highly probable that they lost huge donations due to the lack of ability to keep them private. It's a much bigger deal than taxes.
