What makes me quite annoyed about this is that the "demands" of the news cycle and "need for clicks" has created, for the lack of a better term, a journalistic circle jerk. (Or, more politely, circular reporting.) As each successive news outlet picks up what is not yet even a confirmed story "it" appears to gain legitimacy by virtue of the ever-increasing search result hits.

Journalistic gossip masquerading as reporting. This is the challenge for the trying-to-be-discerning reader in the age of the "always on" Internet.

Not saying any of this is not true. What I am saying is that this so-called reporting sucks. And the blame is to be shared across the board with each "news outlet" grinding its own agenda. Anonymous sources fluffing reporters, reporters fluffing readers. It's #JournoPorn.
