We will be moving to SOMD very soon. We live in Southwest Virginia and I bagan an English cottage garden recently. I would like to continue this in SOMD. What zone are you in? What are some plants that do well there?
I would appreciate any info.
Thanks
Sherry

We are in zone 7. There are a wide variety of plants that do well here, it depends on what you like, the soil that you have, and the amount of sun/shade.

Since the soil here is very acidic and clayey, most acid-loving plants do well here - azaleas, rhododendrons and just about all evergreens. And I've had success with ornamental grasses, as well.

Thank you for the info. I have those plants here and we have lots of clay. The red I dont mind, but the white will not even grow weeds.
I think a cottage garden will do well there. I love the idea of using the grasses to give a better and larger variety to the garden.
