Police say Smith had been telling neighbors and family she was pregnant and had a full nursery set up in her apartment, even though a preliminary examination of her body showed no sign that she was.

This story seems to be a very disturbing trend. When women are supposed to be overjoyed at the impending birth of their child, they now have to worry about someone killing them to steal their baby.

I heard that the woman who turned the baby in tot he hospital was actually the birth mother. She apparently didn't want the baby so she made the story up about the baby being thrown out of a car window... Has anyone else heard that?
