This takes a hell of a lot of nerve

They listed pornography as a "special interest". :roflmao: Couldn't they think of any other example.

One of the columinists in the Washington Times was writing about this earlier in the week. Countries like China want to ensure only "approved" sources are available for news and information.
Since information = power, they want to control the flow.

Let see if I have this right. The U.S. developed the technology and instituted it by DARPA originally as ARPANET with no funds of help from the U.N. and did it to frustrate the former Soviet Union and China and other countries from the "other side", and now we are just supposed to hand it over. Yeah, right.

Just like they are going to get my gun out of my hand through the work of Sarah Brady or my Bible out of my hand through the work of slotted.

But then again, the Democrats will probably eventually get into a position of power again. After all, Jimmy Carter did give away the Panama Canal.:dork:They still won't get my gun or Bible.

I'm getting a mental picture of all these little libbies puling that OF COURSE the UN/EU should take over the internet! Then remembering that they like free speech and unfettered porn, and trying to puzzle out where they really stand on this issue.

Making a trip to the DU - brb.

Well, they're in a quandry and leaning toward UN/EU control. One guy went as far as to say:
It's called "the WORLD Wide Web," duh!
The whole wide world should play a role in governing it.

I'm waiting for someone to reply to him, "Even China?"

But it's just leaning, not a solid stand.

Well, it is the DU.

Dems! Oh Dems! What's your take? Should the U.S. give up control of the Internet? Think long and hard about your answer.

The stupid dips think like my grandparents. World Wide Web is only one small part of the Intenet. But being publically educated little libbies, they're unable to understand some more complex than C-A-T does not equal D-O-G.

I would have a reply, but I don't use that kind of language.

Of course. But just because they want it doesn't mean they should have it. They can control what their own citizens can and cannot access right now - ask China or any Islamic nation. Other than that, they can pack sand.

That's the problem (as they see it). They can't control what their citizens access on the web, only punish those they catch accessing info that's not approved.

I'm not disagreeing with you or agreeing. I saw the story on yahoo a minute after it came out and was considering posting it but I just didn't see anything new or surprising. I'm just surprised it took them so long to start making demands.

I do agree with you about what their own citizens can and can not access, since that's their domestic affairs.

I'm surprised that they haven't gone after control of ABC's Wide World of Sports.
