I haven't had much trouble with them. When I have, I've always contacted the Patient Affairs office and they've taken care of everything for me.

I have tricare prime and to be honest I'm totally satisfied thus far. I used it extensively April thru August last year during 3 weeks in the hospital on Andrews AFB and the rest of the time through a private hospital and doctor in N.J.. Paid zero for the major stay at Andrews and some out of pocket the others. Thought all was over and done with when earlier this year out of the blue they said they had received "additional information?" and sent me checks. I did put out of pocket money into it naturally but it wasn't but a very small percentage for all the care I received. I hope I never have to use it again though.

As far as prescription and co-pay costs :yay:

Customer service :boo: :boo:

I had to take DQ to the ER today because the doctor and urgent care center tricare provided to me wouldn't accept tricare. Then they tell me that since she's not showing up in the North Region, they won't cover it. Yet, when I called a month ago to verify her referral for another appt she had up here, they showed it and her in the system, said she was good to go.

I've talked to no less than 7 people today there, and have gotten completely conflicting responses/direction from each one of them. And given her old man is over in the sandbox, he's not much help.

Who is the patient affairs office? Is that specific to pax or can I reach them through 877-TRICARE?

You need to go to/speak to a military medical installation and speak with someone at the patient affairs office. Tricare's just gonna' beat around the bush.

you might need to update your primary care manager

TRICARE is the devil :dead: I had it when my first husband was military. If something were truly wrong with me, I would be terrified to let them do anything about it.

I don't get why so many people have trouble with it.

I never had a good experience with them. I went in once because I had messed my back up. I could barely walk and I had to wait 2 hours before they called me into a room. Once I was in the room it was another 2 hours. Finally I went out (mind you, I can barely walk and walking hurts) and asked them what was going on. Their response was that the Dr who was supposed to see me decided to leave early so they were trying to work me into someone else's schedule. If I hadnt been in so much pain, I coulda hit someone. I was in tears. Then all they did was give me pain pills. I had to go to the ER the next night because the pills weren't working and the Dr there was like "I dunno what you coulda did, maybe you slipped a disk or somethin, here, have some more pain pills" :cussing:

That's EXACTLY what happened to me, and I don't have TRICARE. I think it's just the process of anybody suffering from severe back pain - they can't do anything about the pain other than prescribe painkillers. The real solution to back pain is to take it easy and to see a specialist to determine what the true problem is and how to fix it.

It sucks because you are still withering in pain and crying like a little sissy baby. At least that's what I did. :bawl:

Sounds like an issue with the clinic, not the insurance.

What really has me  is why the South Region and the North Region do not communicate. Baby-Daddy sent in the transfer paperwork for DQ at the end of the summer, but apparently the South didn't share that with the North.

You need to contact his parent command Personnel Department. It should still be in his jacket if he actually did it, and they can forward it.

The Dr's work for TRICARE or under TRICARE, dont they? Military Dr's suck but it still falls under TRICARE, I would think

I dunno, it was the Dr office on Bolling AFB. When I went to the ER, it was on Andrew's AFB. I think its just the military in general, or at least around here.
