I know this HAS nothing to do with Southern Maryland, but I thought it was cute. I admit that I could relate to more then half of them.

:blushing: :blushing: :roflmao:

You know what "Sike" means.
You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, Wax off."
You know that another name for a keyboard is a "Synthesizer."
You can sing the McDonald's Big Mack,Filet-o-fish, quarter pounder, and French fry song.
You know who Mr. T is.
You know who Fat Albert is.
You ever wore fluorescent, neon clothing.
You could breakdance, or wish you could.
You wanted to be The Hulk for Halloween.
You Believed that "By the power of Greyskull", you HAD the power
Partying "like it's 1999" seemed SO far away.
You thought that Transformers were more than meets the eye.
You knew that knowing is half the battle.
You wanted to be on Star Search.
You can remember Michael Jackson when he was black.
You wore a banana clip at some point during your youth.
You remember the garbage pail kids, and owned some.
You knew what Willis was "talkin' 'bout."
You knew what Scooby Doo meant when he said "Rut row, Zaggy"
You knew what Shaggy meant when he said "Zoinks"
You HAD to have your MTV.
You actually thought "Dirty Dancing" was a REALLY good movie.
You remember when ATARI was a state of the art video game
You owned any cassettes.
You were led to believe that in the year 2000 we'd all be living in
space.
You know what leg warmers are and probably had a pair.
You wore biker shorts underneath a short skirt and felt stylish
You wore your Izod shirt with the collar up.
You had a Swatch Watch with the Swatch Guard.
Your Legos collection started with the free sets in a Happy Meal
You remember when Happy Meals came in a box, not a paper bag.
You remember when Saturday Night Live was funny.
You had Wonder Woman or Superman underoos.
You know what a "Push Up" ice cream is.
You had to come in the house when the street lights came on.
You had to change into play clothes after school.
You owned, or knew somebody with a Commodore 64.
You hated Scrappy Doo.
You recorded songs off the radio with your boom box.
You wish you had a light saber.
Somehow you still know all the words to songs played on VH1's "Big 80's"
Your arm was full of rubber bracelets.
You have ever said, "Gag me with a spoon."
You have ever wondered what happened to Saturday morning cartoons.
You had to get up to change the channel.
You can still sing 1 to 12 from the Pinball machine on SesameStreet
You thought the Thriller video was pretty cool.
You remember the first time you went in to a video store to rent a
movie.
You wore those wide, colorful shoelaces.
Quiet Riot's "Come on feel the noise" was the best song - ever.
You still cannot go in to the water because of that **** movie Jaws.
El Debarge's "Rhythm of the night"plagued the radio every hour.
You remember life before minivans and SUVs.

If you can identify with at least half of this list then you, my
friend,are a "Child of the 80's".

How about if you ever had a belt buckle that said "Boy Toy"? Or if you were kind of freaked out the first time you sent a fax? Or if you remember Janet Jackson as a chubby kid?

I was in high school in the later 80's, actually graduated in 90. But I went to a private school where long hair and jeans were not allowed. they also checked our skirts for the length.

This is a great thread. I just had so many memories flying through my head. I have to say it, " Thank God I am a child of the 80's". The 80's were the BEST!!!!

I was drunk that whole decade, don't remember much about it. What sticks out in my mind was that my last child was born (1981), we had a very quick war (which we won), KAL 007 was shot down by the Ruskies, we had the Stark and Vincennes incidents, and I walked through the pyramids at Giza. The rest is mostly a blur.

The factory where both your parents worked closed for good.

Air Jordans still looked like shoes and not something from Star Trek.

We thought the Russians were our only true enemies.

You tied bandanas arround your legs.

You pushed up the sleeves of your jacket, the legs of your sweatpants (maybe this is why we needed legwarmers?)

Downtown areas started dissappearing in favor of malls.

Longdistance was something you only used once and a while because it was so expensive.

Probably the most memorable moment of the 80's for me was the explosion of Challenger. I was home on a snow day from 6th grade and turned on the TV to watch the historic take off and got much more than I barganed for.

Wyldanjel is Definately A child of the 80's! As I sit here jamming to Metallica And justice for all! :dude: LOL!!! I remember...wearing two polo shirts...and it didn't matter if the bottom one was a darker color than the top on and it showed through that was "So cool" LOL! My husband still calls me an 80's girl LOL! Which I graduated in 89 and the my high school attire consisted of tight rolled holey jeans concert shirts and a black leather jacket or my jean jacket that I had painted with fabric paint with all my fave groups on it... G n' R, Metallica, Poison, Aerosmith to name a few and in Indiana the thing in the late 80's was the Minnetonka moccasins in either white leather or brown suede and it didn't matter if there was snow on the ground or that it was raining your feet would warm up or dry out eventually LOL

I remember Strawberry Shortcake...I had a nightgown and all the dolls. My friends and I would play with them during lunch time.
