Inconsistent forum posting

How do these forums really work? I am confused.

Example: You respond to a post, and that response immediately goes to the top of New Posts, page 1, regardless of topic.

Other times, you respond to a post and it disappears, and has to be found in whatever topic it is/was under.

What gives?

Consistency would be nice. Just make the latest post in whatever topic go to the top, and let it drift down based on response.

I am glad you are bringing this up because I noticed my posts weren't showing up...wondered if I was blacklisted...blackballed...shunned?...hello, anyone out there?...some of my posts show up now but not consistent...I know you were part of my forum debut...it wasn't pretty!...the therapy has been working but you just saved me some bucks...I can discontinue therapy now...happy foruming!...it's all good. (my son taught me that saying)...one happy newbie...love it here!

Threads with unread posts go to the top when you click "new posts"

if you posted the last comment in a thread, it's not unread by you and that thread won't show up till somebody else comments

you can click "quick links" and then "todays posts" and they all show up
