Boat Ramps in So. Maryland

Hi everyone,
Looking to come over your way in July/August with some friends and need your help ~ trying to find a secure boat ramp or marina south of DC to launch and be able to leave vehicles and trailers for couple weeks.  As far as I know the state parks do not allow ANY overnight stays and quite a few marinas do not have ramps.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.  Gary

Gary,

Welcome aboard.  try http://www.somd.com/sports/fishing/index.stm and then go to the marina link.  You should find something you like there.

If I'm not mistaken, Dennis Point Marina does or did have a yard for RV-type vehicles to stay, so I guess trailers and cars shouldn't be a problem.  Since they do service work, I'm sure they have a boat ramp, but I'm not sure of the depth.  Are you planning on staying at the marina or going out to the bay or Potomac and staying on board.  I think you can find other public landings or state parks at http://www.dnr.state.md.us.  Good luck.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for your info.  Checked out the links and phoned Dennis Point.  Looks like Dennis will work out perfect ~ at the south end where we need to be and they allow overnight vehicles which the state parks do not.  We'll be on the water for two weeks ~ mainly the Bay and ICW.  One thing we definitely want to do, besides getting stuffed on Maryland Crab Cakes,  is cruise down to Norfolk Naval Base.  Not sure how much we can see now with increased security but we're heading South anyway.  Take care and thanks again.
