tornado and insurance

:( I am having a terrible time with Erie insurance on claims for damage caused by the tornado. Is anyone else having problems or knows of ways to get claims through the system?

Have they sent a claims adjuster out to document the damage? Did they give you a case number and contact person? Did they tell you to get your own estimates, or are they going to do it and give you a check? If they've been out and you're just waiting for the check, call and ask them EXACTLY when you can expect a settlement check. BE FIRM. Let them know in a professional manner that YOU'RE NOT HAPPY. Ask them how they are planning to resolve the issue. Make them COMMIT to a plan of action, including deadlines/settlement dates. Then if they DON'T meet their own deadline, call the SAME person back and ask them who THEIR supervisor is, because you would like to file a formal complaint and you need to know who to send it to. Also be sure to let them know that this disaster received ALOT of publicity in our state, and perhaps the press would be interested to know how incompetently Erie Insurance is handling their claims...

Be sure to take notes on EVERY conversation re: date, time, who you talked to, what was the agreed upon plan of action, etc. This will be IMPORTANT in resolving your claim.

Good luck!!
