"Special operations soldiers unveiled a statue of a soldier on horseback near the World Trade Center Memorial site on Friday in New York. The 16-foot-tall bronze sculpture is a memorial to the troops who led the American invasion of Afghanistan in response to the Sept. 11 attacks.

Known as “De Oppresso Liber,” a motto of the Army Special Forces, the statue will have a temporary home near the PATH station entrance on Vesey Street before taking permanent residence in nearby Zuccotti Park.

U.S. Army Lt. Gen. John F. Mulholland Jr., Special Operations Commander, spoke at the ceremony to rededicate the statue."
