The Republican nominee for Lt. governor, Michael Steele, says he won't be debating his Democratic counterpart, Charles Larson, Thursday night.

Steele says he wants to debate Larson, but debate organizers did not consult with him about scheduling the debate for this Thursday.

He says he will be busy this week preparing for a Wednesday night fund-raiser for the Republican ticket. President Bush is expected to appear on behalf of Steele and candidate for governor, Robert Ehrlich.

Steele says he first learned of plans for a Thursday debate when he read about it in a newspaper.
