I'm pretty sure that once we get the pup through (at least) his first round of obedience training and properly socialized that we're going to adopt an adult cat from our local shelter. I'm glad you've had a good experience. :yay:

Nickel, the picture of your new pup are so freakin' cute. You are really good at taking the shots, animal pics can be hard to take. You know you always get sucked into kittens because they are fantabulous, but the adult cats were just so sweet. Monty had his cage open at the adoption event and he would jump up and rub against any hand that wanted to pet him. He is so laid back. He is declawed, but I insist that the kids treat him like he has claws. We call him anything but his name. Monty became Montazuma, Montser, Montasaurus.. Blix walks right up to the dogs and headbuts them. The dogs are so surprised. :lmao:
I was never very fond of cats until my parents rescued a kitten from the side of the road a few years ago. She's a sweetheart and completely independent. There are so many adult cats at the shelter that need homes, I'd feel bad "waiting" on a kitten when the time comes. Plus I have my puppy, and he drives me bonkers...I don't need any more babies. :roflmao:

No kidding, puppies are a lot of work my cocker spaniel will be 2 in May and we can just now start treating her like a dog. She is "special" in that I think her mother and father were also sister and brother. And yes, she is spayed, we wanted to stop her family stump right in it's tracks. I liked the rescues because the foster parents were very honset about the cats personality and house manners. If the cat has a bad habit, they will tell you flat out. I liked that :yay: Do you put clothes on the pup?

I have to when it's cold out or he doesn't want to go outside. His breed is generally a warm weather dog, and he is from Florida. It doesn't get too terribly cold where I live (sometimes in the mid 30s-mid 40s, but usually 50s in the winter), but even that's too cold for him. So we bought him a little sweatshirt from petco and he seems to be fine.

I can't wait for the day when I can tell my husband to put a coat on the dog :lmao: Someday, I want a malti-poo.

It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cheaper to adopt a cat/kitten than to have one adopt YOU. :faint: There are nowhere NEAR enough foster homes for pets, as we found out when we rescued a stray from under our deck. We are close to $200.00 in vet bills thus far and need to get her spayed. I wouldn't trade her for nothing now and I don't think my dog or other cat would either. They just adore her.

TimmyTimmy just got a brand spankin new bling-bling collar with a bell from Petco. The first hour we just pulled up chairs to watch him loose his mind trying to figure out where that noise was coming from. :killingme

I don't like collars on cats...period. But that's me. My cousin's cat hung itself in a tree. Ott and I found a young cat under his parents' porch that had his leg stuck up through his collar. He had a rotting sore and had to be put down.
