Silt from St. Jerome's Creek

So, we're a little behind the ball here...didn't realize the creek's mouth had already been dredged. Anyone know where the silt ended up going?

Don't konw if they trucked it out of there or what, but they did a good job, and it's marked much better then what it was in the past. We did a tour of about 3/4 of the creek on a beautiful evening about two weeks ago.

Silt location from St. Jerome's Creek is....................

The silt is piled in a large man made pit, with high bulldozed sides in a field near Buzz's Marina. The silt as you call it actually consisted of mostly pure white sand. Most of this came from the beaches on the western shore, less than a quarter mile north of the mouth of the Creek. Congressman Hoyer is trying to secure funding for and researching the thought of jetties to control future erosion in to St. Jerome's Creek. Currently the Creek requires dredging every 10 years or so. Until the Jetties are installed, new silt will flow in to the Creek from the nearby Western Shore of the Bay very quickly since it is now deeper and can consume the silt at a faster rate.
