    No. The springs in a clock are designed to be wound tight. I get this all the time and its always an underlying issue. Your Seth Thomas is more than likely an 8 day clock. Eight day clocks run between 7 to 12 days when fully wound, so its essential to go tight on the springs to achieve that...

    Sounds like they did a number on your clock. I have seen this before and it is actually common out of moving companies. In house I can fix whatever is wrong with the movement. I know a good glass guy that can take care of the glass, but if the dial is bent bad i would recommend replaceing it...

    I do. On a service call I would come out to your house clean and lubricate the movement and fix whatever I can. Now, in some situations i can't fix the problem there so it would have to go back to the shop. What part is damaged?
