Could you describe in detail the party line system? The only thing I know is you could hear others talking? But how would you reach another individual/ join them in the convo?
without googling, I believe country squire is correct. ours was a gray mercury of some type. my parents drove it until one day it wouldn't go in reverse at church and the girlscouts and myself had to push it out of the parking space so we could get it home. it was traded for an all white grand...

exactly! i remember it would take something like 26 hours to update my "Microsoft Encarta" encyclopedia on my Compaq with the massive monitor and drive that crunched as you clicked the icons.
I'd always set those big downloads before I went to sleep and pray I wouldn't lose the dial up...

i would dial-up with 28.6k/56k (bad phone lines in our area) for hours and educate myself about things I never knew existed when I got my first computer. I miss the novelty and self-discovery that comes with growing up.
