    Saw that coming

Holy cow we agree on something! Genetic testing is extraordinarily expensive when done privately but can be very useful. Sites like 23 and me can be helpful to individuals that are simply interested in looking into their own genetic health for private and personal reasons. Making data like...

    Gun Confiscations Underway

I was skeptical of this story until I was on the ambulance one day months ago. We responded to a call in which no information was given out over the radios, only over secure lines. We had to stage nearby. We watched as no less than 8 vehicles of law enforcement officers also staged nearby on...

    Ambulances

I'm only able to answer about half of this. If you don't have the immediate ability to move over, we can see that too and we understand. We don't want you to do anything that would put yourself or others in any danger - that extra few seconds isn't going to terribly affect what we're doing...

    Ambulances

That's a pretty good idea. There are devices coming that (I think) will gps the route to the stoplights so that they sync up and reduce the traffic. This will replace the opticons that transmit to each individual light and we sometimes have to wait on.

We can always use more volunteers and I know the other rescue squads are in the same boat. The state pays for your EMT and/or driver training. There other ways to help out if you're not interested in either of those. This is a GREAT way to build experience for school if you're interested...

    Ambulances

The driver is in charge of a lot more than just driving. The ambulances where I'm at have little Garmin navigation units in them but we also have map books that are a lot more detailed. There are plenty of places that are still hard to figure out, though. If you see an ambulance that looks lost...

    Ambulances

We often try to come up with ideas for how to revolutionize the system. Some of the technology out there is pretty awesome but, like everything else, it costs a lot of money or is too difficult to implement. There have been some pretty neat changes just in the few years that I've been with the...

I don't disagree with either of your points. Sometimes it is better to stay where you are because the driver has already looked ahead and planned a route around you. We know that's challenging and just try to work it the best we can. And yes, undeniably, some of our drivers are remarkably better...

    Ambulances

Yes, that ahole irritates us, too. Sometimes people use the ambulance to cut a path through traffic. We can report them if they're being unsafe. That's not true...here, anyways. The drivers are supposed to stick pretty close to the speed limit though and it gets a lot of attention from those...

:yay: That is excellent feedback. We have a horn that we use a lot in conjunction with the siren. Its a lower tone and I can feel it in my chest when we use it. It seems to shock people sometimes but sometimes people don't seem to notice at all. Some of the more experienced drivers will do...

    Ambulances

To the best of my knowledge, that is not a law or anything but it is helpful. An awful lot of people don't pull over quite far enough or don't have room to pull completely out of the lane so the ambulances have to go around them, sometimes possibly crossing the center line. Ambulances are so...

    Ambulances

:yay: That's a great way to do it. Yes, it can be confusing to figure out which lane the ambulances are going to go to. The ambulance drivers are trying to do the same thing you are - they're trying to look ahead and predict the clearest and safest route through the traffic. It's my...

    Ambulances

I volunteer with one of the local rescue squads and we see an awful lot of drivers here in St. Mary's county that seem to have a difficult time pulling over when we approach with our lights and sirens going. Recently we seem to have a particularly troublesome time navigating the construction in...

Woman Got Her Revenge When an Old Bully Asked Her for a Date

While I understand why this girl did what she did, I'd like add a few points. It's true what they say about the burden of holding a grudge. Learning to cope is a very important skill. I'm not saying she should excuse his actions but she should understand that not all people are nice or good...

    Gross food

Organ meat is often very nutritious, offering vitamins and minerals in addition to protein. The muscle meat is the generally among the least nutritious areas of the animal you can consume.
