Last Sunday I bought a new feeder for the house. No one has lived there for two years. I put the feeder up at 2PM and at 5PM a beautiful male hummingbird was making trips to the feeder every 5 minutes.

That is a Red Eared Slider. They are pretty common around the local lakes ponds and swamps. They are harmless and can be pretty quick. Very likely a female out trying to get some eggs in the ground. They spend a lot of time under the mud and get pretty dirty. scot

Saw about five different pairs on Webster Field this morning sitting on and around the nests. Its great to see them, can spring be far behind?
