Good to know. And yes, we drove around Deale as well. It's a cute little town, and we saw a number of restaurants. We're looking at buying in Avalon Shores, Idlewilde, or maybe Cedarhurst. Cedar Point is beautiful but likely exceeds our budget.

Thank you. We thought the area looked pretty nice when driving around it, but some friends who admittedly don't live there told us that there is a lot of drug activity. Glad to hear that it's a nice place.

Just to be clear, we're considering Shady Side near Deale / Churchton. I'm not sure which Shady Side you're referring to.

A web search shows almost no crime, but I somehow doubt that. My wife and I are looking for someplace sleepy and safe. We own firearms but don't want to live someplace where we feel like they are necessary for our safety.

My wife and I are thinking of moving to Shady Side and starting a family. How's the area? Still low crime? Have the demographics changed? Lots of druggies / pillheads, or is it still family friendly? Has flooding gotten any worse in recent years?
