I just did the walk through last night as my daughter is a performer. It is more of an eery scary than a big bad monster chasing you with a chainsaw scary if that makes sense. There were 3 kids on the walk through with me, I would say they were all in that same age range and they were all fine.

I don't know where you live, but if you can make the drive to Waldorf it will be more than worth it, Maryland Twisters merged with Maryland Superstarz and it is FABULOUS there now!
