    What to wear? Opinions, please.

A simple black/dark neutral cocktail dress, at or around knee length, would be appropriate. Nothing trampy, sequined or particularly "shiny". Or, when in doubt, a black pant-suit with a colorful blouse underneath is always versatile enough to be worn to a business casual function.

    1st Time Mommy-Local OBGYN recommendations

I'll chime in with a slightly different opinion. Take it for what it's worth. I started seeing Dr. Polko when I became pregnant with my daughter--I did not like her style, and felt as though she was not thorough in addressing my questions or respectful of my decisions. After that I...

It's been a year since I set foot in SOMD...

...So as I will be visiting this week, it is imperative that I treat my tastebuds to the best crab cake sandwich the tri-county region has to offer. For all the seafood Florida can boast, I have to say that the crab available here is just atrocious. I've taken to having it overnighted down...

Women's lust to shop linked to hormonal changes

Or, and this may be crazy talk, women could stop using their hormones as an excuse for bad decision making. I'll start excusing hormone driven shopping when it is equally acceptable for men to have many partners, because their hormones drive them to spread their seed far and wide.

At what age, realistically, do kids have any legitimate reason to have their own cell phones? Do they need them at all?

How to lose friends and alienate countries

I'm a big fan of satire, so this sort of comedy doesn't outrage me like it might other people. In retrospect, it wasn't a good idea to mock the Canadian military while they are dying in Afghanistan to help us in our war. I should have thought of that on the first read. The apology was...

    "Forgot" the Baby?

Fatal Distraction: Forgetting a Child in the Backseat of a Car Is a Horrifying Mistake. Is It a Crime? Gene Weingarten Reports. - washingtonpost.com A gripping read, but not for the faint of heart. It's an article about how parents "forgot" about their children and left them in the car to fry.

    9-Year-Old Has Twins Aborted

In this particular case, she was nine, and her life was in danger. The Church should have offered moral support rather than public complaint. While I respect and agree with the Vatican's commitment to life for the unborn, in this case the mother's life was at risk...They need to recognize...

    Hair salon question

Is she getting full color, or just highlights? You can go longer between touch-ups if it's just highlights. Typically you're looking at about every 6 weeks. I always tip closer to 30% for my hair. If you plan on going back to the same person over and over again, you really shouldn't...

    Teen Abstinence "Not Realistic"...

I agree. Her candidness was very realistic, and I think she is to be commended for speaking out against the people whose partisan conjectures were clearly malicious. Also, I am one of the "SOMD Righties". I didn't post it as a dig against conservative values or abstinence education, but...

    Please Recommend Your Peditrician :)

If you're willing to drive down to St. Mary's, then I second the recommendation for Dr. Sheth. His office is right across 235 from the Wal-Mart. He's wonderful. Otherwise, if you insist upon Calvert, I'd say check out Dr. Hawit. I think he's still located up in the PF/Huntingtown area.
