    Cooper and Buff

Today is the 7th anniversary of us adopting the boys and bringing them here to their Forever Home. The carrier is the same one we bought for our 1st 2 kittens, Queen Victoria and Calamity Jane, in February 1983.

Decent care at St Mary's ER last night.

Started feeling lousy Thursday night, got a bit worse Friday, and horrible yesterday. Called off work and napped a lot. Finally temp was up to 103F. Wanted to get COVID tested, but the only place in the county is Saint Mary's/Medstar. Left home at 8:55 PM, Anita was driving, and arrived at...

    In other health news...

Atop the pancreatic bout of most of 2015 (a few days shy of 74 months post-surgery there), I received my 1st pacemaker in April 2008 after a series of unexplained blackouts. The night before I got the device, heart stopped 13 times. NOT classic heart attacks, they thing just went slack because...

    Mistress Phoenix...

...has taken up residence. She was 3 on 24 August. Similar to the reasons we got Miss Blue (allergies resulting from medical treatment), her previous family needed to re-home her. Buff snuck up quietly behind her to get a sniff, and was fairly gently told off with some hisses and growls. She...

    Rescue is the best breed.

This is Miss Tunafish, my first rescue who came out of the dark on 15 July 1978 near the end of the BBQ my parents were holding to celebrate Anita and I getting engaged. When I brought her to the MSPCA animal hospital for a checkup, vet said she was about 3 months old, and was big enough for...

    :( In Massachusetts

:( Mom is in a bad way, metastasis to her brain from the abdominal cancer for which she had surgery a year ago, in August. At that time, the surgeon estimated recurrence likely in 3 - 5 years. She was 2 months past 82 at time of surgery, decided the ill effects of chemo outweighed...

Found pictures of our first 3...

...since Anita and I wed. First 2 are Queen Victoria and Calamity Jane, the Grey Sisters of Fort Walton Beach, Fl. They were born on Veteran's Day in 1982. Victoria made it to 17 1/2, had a heart attack in her sleep. Calamity made it to 21 years 4 months, massive stroke. They were 10 months old...

That many folks here are dead set on thinking the Abrahamic religions are the only ones that exist.

    Official Augury Today

Had a video telemed conference with my oncologist today (Dr Minal Shah of the Wildewood Cancer recovery Center). She was smiling as she delivered her interpretation of the blood work of 5 May and the CT scan of 12 May. When I received the diagnosis of an adenocarcinoma in the head of my...

    Other Original RPGers out there?

I started in September 1975 with Dungeons and Dragons, still have the Little Brown Books, supplements and other materials I bought back in late 75 though the next couple of years. Started playing Traveller, the first widely successful SF role playing game, in early 1978, still have my Little...

Front row, Sue (who was rescued about a year later), Daisy (these 2 are Buff's sisters), Buff (tucked in behind) and Angelina. Behind them is Harrison, he and Angelina are Cooper's siblings. Loretta...

Miss Blue is holding her own...

...thus far. The transdermal ear cream seems to be keeping the effect of the injections of steroid and antibiotic going. Yesterday's Out Time (over an hour), she was looking for the bunnies under our garden shed. Posted herself by their bolt hole a good 15 - 20 minutes. The wood is there to...

    We Haz A (Cautious) Happy

Had a follow up at the Vet today. Dr Dorsch said it looked like the growth was completely gone from the front half of Blue's tongue, and the remnant at the back looked less swollen and tender. Blue has been on a long release antibiotic and steroid the past 2 weeks. We'll observe for 2 weeks...

    We haz a sad

Took Miss Blue to the vet yesterday for a checkup, was concerned about her constant drooling, and the color. Dr Dorsch found a large tumor on the bottom of her tongue. If her supposition is confirmed, Miss Blue is now in hospice care, as the type of tumor is not removable, and treatment only...

Hey neighbors, today makes Four Years since the surgery I had that seems to have done a good job of helping rid the cancer (pancreatic) from me.

    Cancer update... :)

Today, 14 May 2019 makes 4 years since I received the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. I saw Dr Shah, my oncologist and then had a late breakfast at Bob Evans. The labs and CT scan show I continue to be free of recurrence.

    Un-neighborly dogs...

I have a neighbor who is really precise about the health and tidiness of his lawn. Gets really upset about dogs beiing walked, where their people let them stop and eliminate on his grass. Am thinking of sending this, which was part of an answer to a question about such behavior at another forum...
