Yes, large global corporations need high-level, discreet corporate security, and potentially for benign purposes the particular skillsets that former law enforcement and intelligence personnel provide. However, the situation with Baker makes the problem plenty obvious. If you’re inclined to automatically trust the professionalism and integrity of the FBI and CIA, please have your head examined.

I want to know how many of these FBI and CIA agents are “sheep dipped.” In the intelligence world, “sheep dipping” is a term of art. It describes a tactic whereby a member of the military is “officially discharged from service” to do covert work. In secret, they are still eligible for rank promotions and military benefits.

I first learned the term from my father, because he was “sheep dipped.” He worked for the CIA in Laos in the early 1960s lead-up to the Vietnam War. He was a young Marine officer. During his year in Laos, his normal service records were replaced with records saying he was separated from the Marine Corps, to allow the government to deny any responsibility if anything happened to him. When he returned from Laos, they swapped out the files saying he’d left the Marine Corps with his regular service record, all as if nothing unusual had happened.

Yes, look at all the undercover agents they have. Then when people arrested those undercover people are nerver talked about even if they planned the whole thing.

Jonathan Turley and Michael Shellenberger Sweep the Leg out From Under FBI Response to Twitter Files

George Washington law school professor, Jonathan Turley called the FBI’s response “chilling.”

“It is not clear what is more chilling: the menacing role played by the FBI in Twitter’s censorship program or its mendacious response to the disclosure of that role,” he declared in a tweet, then continued in a thread:

This week saw another FBI “nothing-to-see-here” statement to the Twitter files. Rather than acknowledge the concerns and pledge to work with Congress to guarantee transparency, the FBI is attacking free speech advocates who are raising the concern that Twitter had become an agent of the government in censorship. There are some who would question whether “working every day to protect the American public” should include censoring the public to protect it against errant or misleading ideas. There was a time when that was not a “conspiracy theory.”

Author Michael Shellenberger, who has been one of the media/journalists involved in releasing the Twitter files, also blasted the FBI’s spin.

House Investigation Into Twitter Files Has Been Launched

"We are investigating politicization and abuses at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as Big Tech's censorship of conservatives online. Newly released information shows the FBI has coordinated extensively with Twitter to censor or otherwise affect content on Twitter's platform. These documents show that the FBI maintained this relationship with Twitter apart from any particularized need for a specific investigation, but as a permanent and ongoing surveillance operation. These revelations sadly reinforce our deep concerns about the FBI's misconduct and its hostility to the First Amendment," a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray states.

"From disclosed Twitter documents and publicly available information, it is clear the FBI worked extensively with Twitter to advance censorship of certain speech on Twitter's platform. Twitter’s internal documents reflect a 'cozy relationship' between the FBI and Twitter," the letter continues. "The FBI's close coordination with Big Tech threatens Americans' civil liberties."

Why You Need to Start Paying Attention to the 'Twitter Files'

Elon Musk provided the world with an early Christmas present on Saturday with Twitter Files Pt. IX. I’ll sum it up so you can avoid the Twitter mess and get to the relevant facts:

  • The FBI was a portal, specifically the San Francisco office, for other government agencies to get to Twitter to surveil and censor Americans.
  • Hiding under the title of Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), actors from local police departments to the Department of Defense (DOD) and the CIA were watching and censoring Americans — not foreigners.
  • Twitter wasn’t the only Big Tech firm hip-deep in spooks. The feds had their fingers in Verizon, Reddit, Facebook, Microsoft, and, for some reason, Pinterest.
  • As the 2020 election neared, the FBI-FITF assailed Twitter with hundreds of requests to censor Twitter accounts and tweets. There were so many requests that Twitter execs had to come up with a system to prioritize them.
  • FBI employees were tasked with doing word searches on Twitter, looking for violations of Twitter policies — instead of chasing actual criminals.
  • The FBI had roughly 80 agents working with Big Tech companies. It is unclear how many members of the DOD, CIA, etc. were involved

Twitter Files 9 Shows CIA, Other Security State Involvement in Censorship

The contact was so constant, and between so many government actors, that Twitter execs would lose track of meetings, with the communications being described as “dizzying.”

“Twitter had so much contact with so many agencies that executives lost track. Is today the DOD, and tomorrow the FBI? Is it the weekly call, or the monthly meeting? It was dizzying,” Taibbi writes.

“A chief end result was that thousands of official ‘reports’ flowed to Twitter from all over, through the [Foreign Influence Task Force] and the FBI’s San Francisco field office,” Taibbi continues.

The CIA is referred to in the communications as “OGA,” which stands for “other government agency,” Taibbi explains, adding that the FBI and “OGA” were involved, not only with Twitter, but also with “virtually every major tech firm,” including “Facebook, Microsoft, Verizon, Reddit, even Pinterest, and many others,” as well as “industry players.”

“One of the most common forums was a regular meeting of the multi-agency Foreign Influence Task Force (FITF), attended by spates of executives, FBI personnel, and – nearly always – one or two attendees marked ‘OGA’,” Taibbi says. “The FITF meeting agendas virtually always included, at or near the beginning, an ‘OGA briefing,’ usually about foreign matters,” he adds.

Twitter censored accurate COVID information that conflicted with federal sentiments, new files show

Twitter altered the COVID conversation by censoring information that was true but not in line with U.S. government policy, discrediting public health experts who disagreed and suppressing contrarian users, the latest installment of the "Twitter Files" showed Monday.

"oth the Trump and Biden administrations directly pressed Twitter executives to moderate the platform’s pandemic content according to their wishes," reporter David Zweig said in the 10th Twitter Files release.

Latest Twitter Files Reveal Biden Admin Push Against COVID-19 ‘Disinformation’

The Monday updates came in the form of a series of tweets from Free Press reporter David Zweig.

The federal government reportedly “rigged” the COVID-19 debate, “By censoring info that was true but inconvenient to U.S. govt. policy,” as well as “discrediting doctors and other experts who disagreed,” and “ordinary users,” according to Zweig.

The pressure to suppress certain COVID-19 details while elevating a preferred narrative included officials in both the Trump and Biden administrations.

“Internal files at Twitter that I viewed while on assignment for @thefp showed that both the Trump and Biden administrations directly pressed Twitter executives to moderate the platform’s pandemic content according to their wishes,” Zweig tweeted.

New Twitter Files Reveal Troubling Effort to Censor Trump for Encouraging American People About COVID

Baker wanted to go after a tweet from President Donald Trump that was trying to be encouraging to the American people about COVID, “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life,” Trump declared. This was right as he was getting out of the hospital from having COVID himself. Trump went on to say that they had developed some great drugs and knowledge to deal with the virus.

To Baker, Trump speaking out against fear and being encouraging to America was bad, and the equivalent of misinformation. They wanted us to be afraid.
