There's an article on today's RCP that pretty much supports that idea - that the parties have extreme elements that simply don't speak for the entire party. And THAT concurs with what pollsters have said for years - most Americans of all parties are moderate, centrist. It's only specific issues that tilt them one way or another.

You know - the blogosphere is so full of this - but I have never heard that she has any wish to step into the minefield that is DC politics ever again.

I mean, try to imagine - it's been eight years out of politics (sort of). Your kids are grown. You're both so wealthy, you never have to do a damned thing again. You still get to hobnob with the nation's elite, movie stars, sports legends and music icons and at the moment - and I really don't know why - you're the most respected woman in the country, at least when they poll for it.

All that goes straight to hell if you run for President, and worse, afterward.

If YOU had, what she has and were offered the choice - would you jump at the chance?

The only thing that baffles me MORE is - why doesn't Joe, with his (ill-gotten) wealth just slide off to Rehoboth and eat ice cream on the beach with his grandkids? He leaves the whole swamp, and I guarantee the whole Hunter thing vanishes. He gets to enjoy the few years he has left.

It REALLY says significant problems about the Democratic Party if their best chance for a standard bearer is a former First Lady who's never held elective office. All of the current crop of governors, senators, representatives - mayors of small cities - sorry - NO ONE is as qualified to step in as a woman who has zero experience being President, except for possible "electability" - that people will vote for her, because they ARE in fact, voting for Barack Obama.

It means they think people like Newsom - or Whitmer - or Mayor Pete - or HILLARY - none of them have the draw that someone who has no experiences does.
