Exclusive— Former CIA Station Chief: Intelligence Agencies Cannot ‘Be Reformed’ Unless POTUS Can ‘Fire Every Federal Employee’

Former CIA officer and station chief Scott Uehlinger told Breitbart News on Thursday that intelligence agencies cannot be cleansed of political and partisan corruption unless the president has the unitary power over the federal government’s personnel decisions.

Uehlinger discussed left-wing and partisan politicization of federal intelligence agencies on Thursday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with special guest host and retired Navy SEAL and FBI agent Jonathan Gilliam.

“It’s a real cause of concern, not just among regular folks, but [among] people who served in these agencies,” he stated. He emphasized the ubiquity of such political orientations among intelligence agency employees.

He remarked, “The infection in these organizations is not just the political appointees. It’s basically everyone from mid-grade-level and up, if not lower because they’re all the recipients of a super-liberal education.”

I think there needs to be SOME kind of oversight to any person who wields an appreciable amount of power and is not elected to that position.
Judges can be impeached, as can Presidents. Elected officials can be voted out of office. And several key positions in the Executive Branch only exist as long as the party that placed them remains in the White House.

Beyond that - there are whole tiers of people holding positions just below those, who essentially don't answer to anyone.

My Dad also observed years ago, that in Congressional districts and Senate seats which remain with one party, the staff very often has the SAME PEOPLE, much like high tech government projects often employ the same people even if they work with different contractors. This translates into a whole stratum of people making decisions for the country who are not elected, but can be there, for life. This was why he was largely AGAINST term limits, because it empowers permanently a bureaucratic class that never answers to anyone.

Now it may be that this has been termed and described as "deep state". I have no idea - but it's been something my Dad told me about in the 70's and I've observed it for 40 to 50 years. And I've SAID this, HERE, since long before that term was coined. We can't have our nation shaped by people who answer to no one.

The congressional staff has most of the power, the staff reads the bills and summarizes and tells the pol how to vote

Well exactly. We've all read endless stories where Senators and Representatives have said they have NOT read the bill - but their staff HAD.

What's disturbing is, when that member leaves and another takes his place - if the party doesn't change, neither does the STAFF. So essentially, you have an unelected, accountable to no one strata of people running the government.

Ever sign or agree to something without reading the fine print? You know, you just want to get it over with, so you look for the place to sign, figuring it's all on the up and up? And on occasion - REALLY WISH you'd read it? Like that timeshare agreement you signed?

Imagine if your whole life was like that? Signing stuff and approving things, because you foolishly TRUST that the people writing them are honest. Would you let your aged mother or father in a rest home sign whatever came across their eyes?

I'm guessing that some of it does, as the newly elected pol is certainly going to want their closest allies at their side. But conventional wisdom is still to keep the prior staff around, if only because of experience.

I imagine a great deal of it is that too much bureaucracy has become so convoluted that an army of bureaucrats are necessary.

The Federal government needs to be pared back down to basic... BASIC, interstate commerce regulation, foreign trade and national defense.

Every other department and agency shut down.

We should have stopped this Commie America-hating trend in the 60s-early 70s when all those radicals started becoming college professors. If you've been convicted of a felony, or any violent crime, or associate with those who do, that should preclude you from becoming an educator. It should also preclude you from holding public office, whether elected or appointed.

So for real I don't want to hear about the "Greatest Generation" because they're the ones who took their eye off the ball and sent their kids off to the high priced indoctrination camps.

When Affirmative Action jobs came along it was like hiring thousands of democrats. These people and the white guilt sissies , feminists, and socialists make up the Deep State. They are firmly entrenched in this Government. Tell me how I am wrong.
