“the worst sin” – one sin that is worse than all others?

The worst sin is committing evil in God’s name.

When an irreligious person commits evil, it doesn’t bring God and religion into disrepute. But when a religious person commits evil in God’s name he destroys the greatest hope for goodness on earth – belief in a God who demands goodness, and who morally judges people.

The Nazis and Communists were horrifically cruel mass murderers. But their evils only sullied their own names, not the name of God. But when religious people commit evil, especially in God’s name, they are not only committing evil, they are doing terrible damage to the name of God.

The worst sin was blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, according to Jesus, and he my have some insider knowledge on this.

Mark 3:29
King James Bible
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:

Luke 12:10
And everyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.

The one sin that can not be forgiven...

...is the sin you have not asked forgiveness of.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness

"And so I tell you, every kind of sin and slander can be forgiven, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. Anyone who speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." - Matthew 12:31-32

That's why I believe there are different levels of hell - a special hell within the lake of fire that will be for those unsaved that commit the most heinous sin(s), specifically blasphemy against the Spirit, or sins against the most helpless as well.

It ain't going to be pretty, so that's why I urge all to get right with salvation through Jesus before one checks out for good. The smallest unsaved sin will get an eternity in the lake of fire, while any other sin can get eternal salvation, except for blasphemy (I believe), through the work of Christ on the cross.

In this season where so many rejoice and enjoy the birth of a baby, so many lose sight of why that baby was born in the first place.

A Blessed and Merry Christmas, all.
