08 Challenger @ Ralph's

Was driving through Prince Frederick today and happened to look over at Ralph's Dodge. Saw that they had one of the new Challengers sitting out front, Orange in color. I wasn't a big fan of the pictures that I've seen online but in person this car is pretty slick. First one I've seen in person.:yay:

I've seen a red on somewhere in St. Mary's. It's too bulky for me. Black in my opinion may look better.

Not me, its not right for me, four doors beat the heck outta two when you got kids, but I think they did a good job. The one here in ST Marys is an orange one, all the ones you see around now are SRT-8s, the 08s.

09 production just kicked off, which means you'll see the more normal ones around in a couple-three weeks. Unconfirmed reports say the first ones run will be exclusively V6 models. Dont know that I believe that, but we'll know shortly.

Saw it too. Neat shape and all, but not worth anywhere near the $60000+ asking price. Would be really neat if it was all black and actually sold at the sticker price. What is with the carbon fiber decal on the hood? Yuck! Also while I was looking at it, one of the dealers remote clicked the door locking mechanism on the car. You have got to be kidding me guy. I was sitting in a $95000 Audi S8 just and hour before without a concern from the Audi dealers.

60K? Damn, thats ridiculous. If your willing to pay airfare of under 1K, which would take you anywhere in the country, I'm positive you can get one at sticker, should you so desire. They made about 6400 of these 08s, theres no reason to pay a markup.

Oh, and they are not Ralphs anymore, Ralph sold it those folks from up the road, the Waldorf bunch, sames ones that bought Aldridge. They are everything thats wrong with dealerships all rolled into one.

Didn't know that, thanks. :yay:

Well us Charger fans HATE THEM! :lmao:

No lie, I would much rather have an SRT8 Charger as compared to the SRT8 Challenger. I think the Charger is much better looking.

The price is a bit ridiculous, but hey, they do that with new cars.

Anything over 40k for a Dodge is crazy. Maybe a truck or Viper, but not Challenger. For 60K, I'd rather spend 10k more and get a Z06.

Do keep in mind, that 60K is with a huge amount of markup. Sticker on the Challenger should be in the 43K range. A bit more than your 40K cutoff, but not too bad. Given gas prices, you might be able get one for under 40K soon.

For that amount, you get a 425 horsepower, 2 door, modern muscle car that outhandles and outruns virtually anything from the 60s.

Not a bad deal. Me, I'm partial to the added utility of the Charger SRT-8, especially since theres no performance penalty, not for this model year anyway.

Hmm, 37K? That sounds like the base price, before the Gas Guzzler tax, and any options. The GGT is I think about $2100, so with no options, your looking at right at 39K, most have the optional wheels, sticker on most is 41, it appears from a quick Ebay survey.

Whats funny, looks like a ton of folks bought them just to profiteer them, I see a bunch on there privately owned, under 100 miles, buy it now anywhere from 45K to over 50K.

And most of them will lose their asses, I'm glad to say.:yahoo: 6400 is a lot of cars, people just dont realize. Plenty to go around, those preliminary reports that all 6400 bought were deceptive, that was "ordered", not bought. Dealerships placed the lions share of those orders, and now are trying to make the max off of them. The SRT owners are used to this, the dealerships have done for every SRT product since the Neon. Lasts about a month, then its over.

Damn there's a 20k markup? That's crazy.

It hasn't been Ralph's in over a year..

And like other Dodge's it's great until you hear that first squeak or rattle, then it's all downhill.

You should ask them about a lease!!

OOPS, itsbob!

I have had my Charger going on 3 yrs. and not a lick of trouble out of her. I think they are built way better than they used to be. In fact I have had 3 Dodges in the past 12 yrs. and not a lick of trouble out of any of them. I traded the Stratus I had for a van because my family was growing by leaps and bounds. Then we traded the van in on the Charger because I just could not get that car off my mind and I would  every time I saw the commercial. I took my whole family down to the dealership, threw them in it to see if we would fit comfortably and they did and that was all she wrote! :lmao:

Didn't Chrysler just announce they were getting out of the lease racket due to loosing their azz on lack of resale value and overpriced initial vehicle purchase price? Chrysler products have been overpriced for what you get for years, and they are all gas guzzlers when compared to similar vehicles.

Hmm, my Neon was squeak and rattle free for the three years I owned it, all 75 thousand miles and twenty five dragstip passes of it. My Charger, at almost to years and 49 thousand, is also squeak and rattle free.

As for the lease thing, thats not just Chrysler, GM is looking to get out of leasing also.

GM lease program safe through August

Its an industry credit thing.
