Finally! "The rest of the story." This is an incredible article. My Aunt said something the other day that really got to me.

She said, " America will have to come under attack again before you see full support for Bush."

Deep Breath

"Half of the country can't remember and there's not a thing we can do about it. "

It's sad, but I think she's right. :frown:

 An absolutely unblinking look at the entire situation. The facts are laid out cleanly and unflinchingly, sparing nothing of the absolute horror that is Iraq and what Hussein will try to do to us again.

Thanks for posting it, Hessian.

Interesting information including our history (support?) for Iraq, even during the infamous gassings they performed.

Sometimes your have to reap what you sow:

"However, it should be noted that the use of chemical weapons was undertaken with the compliance of the rest of the world. The US Secretary of State acknowledged that he was aware of reports of Iraqi use of chemical weapons from 1983, and a United Nations team confirmed Iraqi use in a report of 16 March 1984. Nevertheless, the US administration provided "crop-spraying" helicopters to Iraq (subsequently used in chemical attacks on the Kurds in 1988), gave Iraq access to intelligence information that allowed Iraq to "calibrate" its mustard attacks on Iranian troops (1984), seconded its air force officers to work with their Iraqi counterparts (from 1986), approved technological exports to Iraq's missile procurement agency to extend the missiles' range (1988), and blocked bills condemning Iraq in the House of Representatives (1985) and Senate (1988).

Rumor, innuendo, discredited intel, and still no insight into how bombing the crap out of Iraq will change anything.

You know, I know, George Bush knows, and Donald Rumsfeld knows, that eliminating hussein will not change the potential for terror attacks one bit. As is clear from the article, any connection between Iraq and international terrorism is tenuous at best. The article also makes it clear that there is much clearer terrorist support in Syria.

I can give you the blow by blow reply if anybody cares.

O.K. Krebs..... What should Bush do to stop terrorism? Sit down with a nice tray of Tea and Krumpets to diplomatically discuss with fanatics why they HATE this country?

You do, realize that these people HATE you personally right? It's not a matter of disagreeing with our administration, they HATE us! All of us! They would love nothing more than to see all of us dead.

Sorry about that chief.
If the "war on terrorism" will last as long as Bush said it would. That would mean he has carte blanche to do anything he wants under the guise of halting terrorism. I still have seen no proof that Iraq was at all related to 9/11.

We've got a lot of security agencies in this country. You would think they could do something covert to stop these suckers and a large-scale military invasion wouldn't be necessary. Of course, these "intelligence" agencies totally dropped the ball on 9/11.

Well, lets see... We can start with al-qaida which are the ones who took down our buildings, not iraq. We are getting a few here and there, but if we had 250k people tracking these guys down instead of playing footsie in the desert, it could be even faster.
Or we could go after the one country that the state department says for sure is the leading state sponsor of terrorism, Iran. Or the country that is begging us to fight, North Korea.
But, Iran isn't a good choice because of our history with them, the people there wouldn't really know which side we are on. as for N. Korea, it doesn't have nearly the media glamour that Iraq has, nor the intense personal hatred for a leader (mutual)

And for god's sake, quit looking like fools and saying this is about 9/11. Anyone with a half a brain can see this just an excuse.
Show me proof that Iraq planned the attacks, and show me that Iraq boarded those jets and crashed them into our buildings. You will find no connection at all, so beat a different drum. If this is about 9/11, then I suppose we should be after saudi arabia and egypt. We should bomb florida and (I think) arizona for training these guys.
