Potty concern

Ok, not sure if there is a cat/kitten person with lots of experience or not here, but here is my question. We have a new kitten, that has had several food changes. This has caused her to have loose potties. It isn't to the point that I think she needs a vet, but at the same time, what a mess. Any one know of something that can help her? If she isn't better by the end of the week I will get her into the vet, but if someone has a suggestion I am all ears.

How old is she? Has she been vetted? What are you feeding her?

Stick with kitten chow...dry..no canned.
Add some pumpkin meat..comes in a can, NOT pumpkin pie mix!

That adds fiber to diet and helps stools firm up.

I take it whe has been fully wormed.

If not, do so, as the loose stool may be parasite related.

And as Catt had asked...is she fully vetted?

Be veeery careful with pumpkin. It can also cause diarrhea.

She was wormed by the breeder, I did a gradual change to my food, but let it almost run out before going for another bag. Well guess what they stopped making it. My other two cats are fine with the food, but this new little girl that is 4 mo old is having a time of it. I am feeding a holistic food called Artemis, I was feeding a different one made by them before this and before that she was on a food from Wal Mart that I couldn't find in Waldorf and was going to check La Plata tonight, but I dn't really want to change it again, but I want her to be healthy. I will try a little pumpkin, I have some in the freezer that I use for the poms when I have troubles, but didn't know if cats were ok with it. She isn't dehydrated and isn't loosing weight either. Only thing is she has messy poopie. Any other pointers accepted and as I siad no improvement me, little Black Orchid and a sample will be at the vet the end of the week. Anyone know if you can use Safeguard on cats and what the dose is per/lb? If you can't use Safeguard can you use Ivemec and the dose per/lb? I know for dogs, but not cats. None of my other cats have ever had these issues and I have had my own cats since 1991.

Also no muccus and nothing I would relate to as a parasite in my poms. IE Guardia, Cammpie Bac, Coccidia....etc

What breed is she?

Why give her a wormer if she doesn't have worms?

I didn't worm her, she siad she does it to insure there are none before they go to new homes.

She is a Persian, solid Black.

can you insert pics here? If so how I will attach a pic. She is a small girl.

Yeah, you can insert pictures. I just don't like to give my pets unnecessary meds.

Where did you get her?

sounds like diet, new home stress....
There are some very good kitten foods out there..
I use Purina products,,,but many others have their preferences..
What do you feed your adults?
Does that come in kitten form?

Most of the good quality dry food is not age specific. I feed California Natural and it is for cats and kittens. I also feed canned food. Cats need both.

Where do you buy the California Natural and why do you prefer that type? I'm always on the look out to improve what I feed my gang. Thx!

Here they are. No Artemis doesn't have a kitten formula.

I had another idea. This happens in poms if they go from scheduled feedings to free feed. They eat more then they need and it give them the poopies. I know they were feed 2 times a day but I free feed my cats. Should I ration her food and see what happens?

I sure hope it stops soon she really hates bootie baths.

I got her from a breeder in Hagerstown, MD. I don't want to worry her, over a little poopie, but if not better tonight I will email her with my concerns as sometimes the breeder knows more about their own then anyone. I have been waiting to schedule her spay because of the poopies so I hope the are gone by Feb.
