NASCAR still? Don't think so. Incredibly boring circuit these days.

This is even more amazing, from the perspective of a person that has attended 21 NASCAR races(probably no more until they get rid of this "equal car" crap) in five states, including Daytona , Talladega, Atlanta, Darlington, Charlotte, and the old Rockingham:

How NASCAR landed a staggering TV deal with NBC, Fox, despite ratings decline - NASCAR - Sporting News

"Back in 2005 when NASCAR signed its current $4.48 billion eight-year television deal with Fox, ESPN and TNT, the sport enjoyed impressive television ratings with an average rating of 5.3 for the 36 Sprint Cup races. The three public track companies that have 90 percent of the races also benefited, reporting $450 million in ticket sales for all racing (including non-NASCAR) events.

When NASCAR went to the negotiating table last year, the majority of races had moved from network to cable with ratings dropping to an average rating of 3.6 in 2012. The relatively same track owners took in just $262 in admissions revenue. "

Do you really think NBC will improve that?

I like that part the best - no matter how much TV pays, as long as the races are BORING (as so many posts on this and other sites proclaim, rightly) - and nearly EVERY race ends in a green/white/finish scenario, the result is bogus. The best car and best team do not win what they should.

ESPN sucks. So does TNT. I'm glad they're done. And I'm really excited about what they're doing over there at NBC Sports Network.

As far as the TV contract goes, NASCAR answers to NBC now, not attendance revenue. That's VERY good news.
