Larry Gude

Strung Out
...Columbus sailed the blue.

Discovers the New World. Rapers and pillagers rejoice.

1493 Caribbean natives coin the phrase 'there goes the neighborhood.' Resort owners rejoice.

Columbus Day - As I learned it from Flip Wilson...

Queen Isabella: "Ray Charles? He in America?

Chris says "damned right! Where you think all them records come from?"

Queen Isabella: "Chris go'n find Ray Charles!"

Queen Isabella: Goodbye Columbus....

Holy Cow! I was watching the news and the Anchor people asked if this was Columbus' birthday or the day he arrived in the Americas. I would think reporters/news correspondents/anchor folks would have had to take a few history classes over the years! Didn't we learn this in at least first grade!

Why would you think that they are any smarter than anyone else? It doesn't take a lot of smarts to be able to read from a teleprompter or off a piece of paper.

When I was in school I learned that it was October 12th (not the 9th) when Columbus discovered the new world, but since the Monday Holiday Bill many traditional holidays are no longer on the actual day of the event.

BTW, any guess on when his birthday actually was? August 26, 1451
