You go far enough to stop the attacker. Depends on what that takes. In this case, it was pepper spray. And I submit that pepper spray was the least violent course. Washes off. No bruises, no cuts. No boot prints, no stab wounds. Most benign response. You keep saying nobody answers that, I keep answering, but you don't stop.

Pretty sure no law requires me to turn my back to an attacker and walk away. I am legally allowed to use force to stop a person from attacking me. I am also, unless I'm mistaken, allowed to escalate that force until the person stops in their attack. If I yell stop and you do, I cannot then stab you. If I punch you and you stop, I cant knock you down and stomp you. If I knock you down and you grab my leg, I can kick you. You can go back and forth all day, but the what-ifs end in the reality of the fact that she attacked someone, and someone defended that person from the attack with a method that caused her no lasting harm and ended the physical interaction quickly. That's wht happened, and it worked well for everyone involved. The guy being attacked was spared from further attack, she was spared any injury.

Looks like all the other hats Trump supporters are wearing.

But we'll need to have that video analyzed and cleaned up to be able to read the hat. Even if he was wearing it, he could have been an anti-Trump'er wolf in sheep's clothing. He was lying in wait for his chance to stir up more controversy on the Donald.
