- presumably receiving SS checks even though they can’t be alive.

The lib RESPONSE has been - the idiot geniuses don’t know COBOL whose default date is 1875 ( having programmed in COBOL for nine years - I’ve never heard that).

But what that DOES mean is - there are people receiving checks - and they HAVE NO IDEA how old they are. Not unless they do really sloppy corrections internally. It’s not better to have thousands or millions of people with no discernible birth date.

We stopped using COBOL when Y2K hit. And as much as I loved its simplicity - it’s antiquated. And sadly, government systems are woefully outdated. 90’s versions of software - or NO computers - done by hand, on paper. I know we were still using Windows XP in 2011, but some other agencies are much worse.

It’s not a DEFENSE that the records are screwed up. Frankly I still believe there’s fraudulent checks - just going to someone who knows how to cheat.

Some durhard on my friend's FB said that claim is bullshit because....

...swallow whatever is in your mouth right now...

...because the SS Act was implemented in 1935, which means...."the oldest possible recipient would only be 89 years old..."

:lmao:

:banghead:

This is what we're dealing with. Even after he was corrected, he argued and argued.

I’ve now been reading Reddits and other sites - and still the consensus among anti Musks is that the geniuses are too stupid to grasp things like default values on systems and databases.

Presumably the earliest versions of COBOL - which is assumed to be the culprit - places a default date of May 20 1875 when there’s no date. That was the date the Convention du Metre was signed in Paris.

SOUNDS logical. Admittedly AFTER Y2K, most systems were adjusted accordingly. So the explanation while plausible - exonerates nothing. It STILL means, there’s VERY BAD data correction. It points strongly to data corruption.

Because there’s also evidence of checks going to people with NO recorded SSN at all.

So I care little of the “explanations” - some which say well we don’t have a decent birth record - we don’t know how old this or that person is. Means nothing to me. There should always be continual validation of records especially when we’re talking trillions of dollars.

It's stunning how many retarded people think they're smarter than geniuses.

I’m always reminded of things like that scene in the first Iron Man movie, when Iron Monger follows him straight upwards bragging that HIS suit is more powerful and more advanced than Tony’s.

And as his suit becomes covered in ice he answers “oh yeah? How’d you solve the icing problem?”.

We’re not talking smart kids who went to top colleges. We’re talking geniuses who WROTE algorithms far more advanced than about every computer language out there. I have zero doubt they’ve anticipated every TECHNICAL aspects of the situation.

What I do doubt is longer term ramifications of what they implement. They don’t possess the experience to see things. You know, like those nitwits in Maryland who concocted a millionaire’s tax - and promptly saw millionaires MOVE AWAY, something easily done when you’re rich.

They're not implementing anything. They don't have to see consequences or nuances. All they are are data nerds. They have no power to make any changes or cancel anything. They are there to find it, that's all. Then they turn it over to Trump and the House and Senate DOGE subcommittees for action. There's oversight up this ass with this thing.

The Dems are whining that the DOGE kids have no experience in government. :drama:
 :loser:

I don't know why this is so hard to understand. Big Ballz isn't in charge of your Social Security payments or firing you. All he and the rest of them are doing is compiling data. This is what makes the Democrat comeapart even more asinine - they can't seem to understand how any of this works.

Well you have the power to @DOGE and @ELONMUSK and tell them

I never ran into any COBOL code, but I saw more than one instance of government code in Fortran. I'm not going to claim Fortran or COBOL is too difficult or esoteric for Musk's baby geniuses to figure out, but I will claim they can't learn it in a week or two.
