I could have put this in "Off the Beaten Path" thread. It's not Tennessee Ernie Ford, but it's still a pretty good version, as well as unexpected from a group more well-known for their distinctive sound.
Another one that could be put in "Off the Beaten Track." This is by the legendary Frankie Laine, but according to the youtube inputs, Americans wouldn't have heard this unless they lived in the UK when it was released.
My grandfather on my fathers side, and some of my Dads older brothers were coal miners for a time in AL, when my Dad was grade school age. Took up farming after that.
