17 yr old considered a minor still?

I took my 17 yr old daughter to an ob/gyn doctor's appt and they asked for her ID. I thought that was weird because her regular doctor's office hasn't asked for it. None of the other doctor's offices Ive taken her to recently have asked. Is this normal for the ob/ gyn to ask a minor for their ID? Or is she no longer considered a minor? Thanks

Unless legally there are things they don't have to disclose to a parent for a child OVER 18.
