UPDATE: Calvert County Sheriff's Deputy Injured After Being Struck by Stolen Vehicle Driven by a Juvenile

During the attempted apprehension of the vehicles, the suspects fled from officers showing zero regard for the citizens in our community. One of the suspect vehicles ultimately struck a marked Calvert County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle occupied by our lodge member and his K-9 partner.

Thousands of dollars of damage, thousands in medical bills, dozens at risk during the rampage....2 Baltimore Yoots having a joy ride in stolen vehicles.
Many of the comments reflect the modern age idea of "Give them some prison time to teach them a lesson!"...and "I hope the judge doesn't sentence them to community service!"....Who among you out there realize that an 80% recidivism rate for prisoners...added to failing home detention, and community service, and weak judges......means further destruction to our county, and our way of life?

There are solutions.
They were effective for 1000+ years.
They were final...
Reform only works on a penitent heart...when penance is not sincere/nor expressed...then the old solutions are especially effective.
The alternative is higher taxes, more police, more security systems, cameras, more prisons, more judges, guards, and MORE damage to our citizens by "Yoots."

It doesn't say what kind of cars they stole. Used to be with older vehicles, I'm thinking 60's and 70's were easy to hotwire (don't ask me how I know!). What about newer cars- I thought with advances in technology, they were more difficult. Anyone want to educate me?

My car is garage kept. I hadn't left the house since Saturday until today. If I feel the need to warm it up, I only lift the garage door about 5".

Tech does nothing if it's left unlocked. If it's unlocked, the alarms and preventions are off. A "good" thief can enter, bust off the column lock and start a car in seconds.

A bit more difficult if the car uses a new FOB that has to be in the proximity of the car for it to start.
