We are placing two adult, AKC registered, well bred Rottweilers in loving, forever PET homes - $350.00 adoption fee per dog.
Wisdom is a LARGE (a solid 180 lb) Serbian import male (with a tail) and Sulley is a medium sized female (docked) - both must be neutered/spayed immediately upon placement - these are great dogs with wonderful personalities and are terrific family dogs, good with kids and other pets.

We are NOT "getting rid of" these dogs, we are placing them so they can live their lives to the fullest with loving, forever families. - they can be returned to us at any time - THEY ARE GREAT DOGS.

Microchipped, UTD on DAPPV (shots) and wormed.

No, they don't have to go as a pair. Unfortunately, we didn't realize exactly how large the male would mature when we imported him and he's WAY out of standard for the breed, so much so that he has to be collected for AI, he's just too massive to live cover a female - this isn't something we want to perpetuate in our breeding program. I'm sad to do it, but it's a decision we have to make in the interest of the breed, now that some of his limited offspring have matured and we have a male from one of our smaller females who is equally as beautiful and has matured to be within the standard. We have another son out of a medium sized dam, who matured to be super oversized like the sire and will be neutered. You can see his pedigree and pictures on my website - www.briesrottweilers.net - his name is Wisdom. Right now he's still listed as a stud dog, but I've never allowed anyone else to use him.

I bought the female, Sulley, specifically to rehome her - she was in a bad situation and i felt she would end up dead or with animal control if i didn't buy her. She's too sweet for that.

FYI TO ALL.....

THIS is what you would call a GOOD breeder. One who breeds for the right reasons and to better the breed.

Just because the dog is BIG... doesnt mean its better.

:yay:..... and she also states that they shall be fixed upon placement. (many breeders i work with that has this in their rehoming has the new owners pick where it will be done... and they will take ownership after they are fixed. this prevents the new owners from backing out of that and breeding the dog)

Our motto has always been "First do no harm."
This is a breed that can certainly do great harm and sadly people can do great harm to it. They are wonderful dogs in the right hands and we love them.

What about having them spay and neutered before rehoming them?

Other peeps show my stock and stock from my lines (although I refuse to sell to show only homes!!!) - my stuff still wins, one of ours went WD and BOW at the Colonial Rottie Club Specialty for the 5 pt major to finish him with 3 majors 2 years ago -

After 30 years in the breed it made me physically sick watching all the politic-ing and seeing first hand all the horrible sneaky crap "breeder judges" do - it's really heart breaking. And no body will talk openly about problems, they sweep it under the rug. SERIOUS temperament flaws and life threatening health problems are perpetuated willy nilly with little regard for the future of the breed...it's heart wrenching and i refuse to be a part of it. And the HUGE lawsuits initiated by breeders against buyers or co-owners who can't or don't uphold insane 10 page purchase contracts ....it's just awful - the greed makes me SICK. NO THANK YOU.
I know a good dog and that will never change. I also know how to say...no sale to the right people and I do. Now THAT'S rewarding

Now I'm too involved in having fun with my the horses on the weekends.

Oh so you were baiting me?
You go girl.

If that reply was to me, no, I was not baiting you. As much as I'd love to have another dog, I just can't make that commitment now. I have my pets for life and don't want to do it half ass. It's not fair to the animals.

What about I paid 6K to import Wisdom plus paid for all his health clearances when he matured (Penn Hip/OFA/cardio and eye certifications) and 1K for Sulley (just to rehome her) and I don't want to put the $ out that Tidewater wants for spay/neuter - when a new owner can make a small financial commitment to have the honor of owning them?

I really don't mean to be snide about it, but I've paid my dues 10 fold and I feel that these dogs are very high quality, well socialized and healthy and 350.00 plus the cost to alter is a small price to pay for a great dog. And they won't leave here unless it happens. Asking that fee plus requiring the new owner to pay for altering the dog ensures me the new owner can and is WILLING to afford to keep their vet care up for the rest of the their lives. Do i feel guilty about that? NOPE. It's worked for me up till now. My pet homes are fantastic and you won't see a thread started like...'justice for blah blah' (who was shot by police or a neighbor) by one of my owners.....just sayin'

I get that. It was just a suggestion to assure the new owners will NOT be breeding them. That's all.

It's a business decision that's had very good results for me in the past.
To put it bluntly, asking a rehome fee PLUS the cost of neuter/spay knocks a very specific group of inquiries right out of the ball park - so they never even send the stupid tire-kicker email. That's the way i like it. :)

You have no idea how much time i spend educating peeps on the 'right' way to breed/buy/evaluate a Rottie for their particular family, only to receive a phone call 6 months or a year later from a whining owner whose Rott just caused 25 stitches in their infants face or their Rott baby is growling or has actually bitten them when they tried to take it's food bowl away does he have a 'bad temperament?" or this (10 week old) puppy is VICIOUS am i interested taking it for my breeding program?

Its very disheartening.
