20-Day-Old Baby Dies After Mom Accidentally Drops Her

NEW YORK -- A 20-day-old baby died Wednesday after falling from her mother's arms, police said.

The girl, Kella Santos, slipped out of her mother's arms at their Queens home Tuesday morning, police said. She was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center with serious head injuries and later was transferred to another hospital, where she was pronounced dead the next day, police said.

The mother, whom police did not identify, likely won't be charged, Detective Theresa Farello said.

"It looks like an out and out accident," Farello said.

The 36-year-old mother has three other children.

Hmmmm...As bad as it sounds, I dropped my son when he was a baby. He was a few months old, so he was older than this baby, but all he did was bounce off the floor. He had a small bump on his head, but other than that he was fine. But...accidents do happen!!! I feel bad for the mother...if this truly was an accident!

So happy!
When I worked at Outback I watch a Grandfather drop a baby on the wood floor and it made the worst sound ever. The poor oldman was so upset he ran out crying. The baby was fine. Just a big bump on his head.
