2010-2011 Maryland Hunting Proposals

If you wish to make your voice heard on upcoming changes in the way Maryland DNR regulates our hunting sports, then the time is now to say what you feel. Some of the proposed regulation changes are earlier start for white tail deer hunting, longer Spring Turkey season, and a few other welcomed changes. We are also pushing to extend the outdated Crow hunting regulations from 4 days per week to 6 days per week with a year-round season in stead of the outdated August to March regulation. So, here is the link to the public comments form that is now being accepted and it all stops on March 15, 2010. The time is now to say what you have to say:

Ummm...there is actually a pretty big change:

DNR will allow crossbows to be used to hunt any game species during any open season where a vertical bow may be used (excluding waterfowl and certain furbearers). This proposal would permit the use of a crossbow during the entire deer bow season in all counties.

There is that and the fact that next year turkey season will be extended to hunt past noon during the last two weeks of the season.
