2012 SOMD NASCAR Points

Dippy and others - had a thought (I know, it rarely happens these days...)

For the points, what about a reverse order point system?

1st place - 5 Points
2nd - 4 Points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 2 points
5th - 1 point

For the Chase, it could be

1st - 7 points
2nd - 6 points
3rd - 5 points
4th - 4 points
5th - 3 points
6th - 2 points
7th - 1 point

This would put some emphasis on picking your drivers and placing them after 1st place instead of just making the top 5.

You could still be awarded 1 point for the top 5, but if your 2nd pick actcually placed 2nd, you would get 4 points vice 1.

How about if you got the points for the position any of your picks finished? Like I list 5 drivers and note the one I want to win. One of my picks finishes 3rd and another finishes 2nd. I would then get 7 points.

Yep - that is what I was thinking, but did not convey it too well.

If you correctly picked 2nd and 3rd - you get 7 points...

If you picked 2nd and 3rd, and your #4 pick came in 5th - you would get 8 points (4 + 3 + 1)

Oh ok, I thought you were saying we had to name the 2, 3, 4 etc. place driver.

If we got the pick right, we would get a bit more than just 1 point...


I do try to weight my drivers in the correct order on how I think they will finish - it might put a bit more thought into picking number 1, and just the other 4.

But I will leave this up to the group to decide.
