NAVAL AIR STATION PATUXENT RIVER, Md. – Due to a developing administrative demand on our security forces, on Tuesday, Jan. 22, NAS Patuxent River will implement reduced gate manning similar to that which was implemented through the recent holiday season.

Recommend all personnel adjust their arrival routines accordingly. Staggered arrivals have proven to be a highly effective mitigation to gate congestion.
While we expect duration of this condition to be short, the ultimate end date is to be determined.

We appreciate your patience as we work through this situation.

Just after the recent shift in hours, mainly on gate 3, I went through gate 1 at approximately 0900. One vehicle lane was open, but there were three guards working the truck lane.

So, how is everyone enjoying the new gate schedules? As I sit here, everyone that comes in is complaining about how long they have had to wait to get on the base. I'm hearing of wait times of over 1 hour.

Just heard a report that traffic on Hermanville, coming in gate 3 was backed up past the Greenbrier neighborhood.

Let's hear your stories.

At 650 this morning it was backed up on Hermanville, not quite to the neighborhood but a ways back.

It's going to be rough, however I get paid to be at work, so no big deal.

I live about 8 miles away. I left my house at 7:32. By the time I parked and sat down to work it was 8:22.

At 0730 I had to wait about 5 minutes inside of Greenbrier just to get on to Hermanville. From there it was ~25 minutes to 235 and another 30 to get to work. My usual 7 minute commute took an hour today.
