Just read in the hometown paper that the Big 10 will start playing football the weekend of Oct 23-24. It will be an 8 week season.

The change was supposedly because they could perform daily COVID testing, but it sounds like they were getting pressure from many fronts (e.g. coaches, players, alumni).

Running big time D-1 programs ain't cheap. No games, no TV revenue = No money for scholarships

I'd anticipate the Pac-12 following suit soon and resume football. The Pac-12 was blaming California and Oregon governments from allowing football, but both governors say its not up to them and nothing is preventing the Pac-12 from having a football season.

The NCAA also said the basketball season can start as early as Nov 24 (original Nov 10), with preseason tournaments (IIRC: 8 tournaments) using the NBA "bubble" in Orlando.
