Shooting Next to Lexington Park Elementary School

UPDATE 3:08 P.M.: Authorities have cordoned off the neighborhood in the area of Old Missouri and Rogers in Lexington Park. Children from Lexington Park Elementary School that live in the area may be picked up at either the Lexington Park Library or at Bay District Firehouse.

Witnesses in the area report hearing a homeowner on Rogers state over the phone that she could not go into her house until a search warrant arrives. Police continue to investigate the shooting and actively search for the two suspects.

UPDATE 2:38 P.M.: Authorities are now looking for two black males involved in the shooting. Both men are at large at this time.

Police are heading toward the site of a shooting near Old Missouri next to Lexington Park Elementary school. At this time it has been reported that a black male with dreadlock-style hair was seen shooting toward a house. The Lexington Park Elementary school is on full lockdown. More details will be provided as they are received from authorities.

Shots fired in crack village next to Lexington Park Elementary School...


LEXINGTON PARK (March 19, 2010) --- Cops are closing down area around Missouri Ave. in Lexington Park, across from library as they search for one or two black males who fled after firing shots...one black male wearing blue shorts and tank top is being sought...the school is locked down and roads are being blocked...shorts may be black...suspects may have fled through wooded area behind the town houses which are located in the crack village next to the school...trails lead to Willows Road.

Parents are being allowed to pick up their children at Library...just drive in on Shangri-la Drive, the cops will give directions...

Is it still a "shooting" if nobody got shot? I've never heard of someone firing a gun being referred to as a "shooting" before unless someone was hit.

Surprised this hasn't happened more often with a school near drug infested neighborhoods. What a shame. I feel sorry for the interuption for the school children and the "the good people" that live in neighborhoods with this kind of problem.

What if something was hit?
A hole in a house and two 9mm shells on the ground, Is that a shooting?
