F*** Socialism!
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - The controversy in Arizona has put the immigration debate into the nationals spotlight and in Metro region. It even led to a protest outside the Prince George's Correctional Center.

A group demanded to see the director of the Prince George's County Correctional Facility Monday night. They were prompted to do so after a 26-year-old married mother of three, Florinda Fabiola Lorenzo-Desmillian, was arrested last Tuesday by undercover officers for selling $2 phone cards out of her apartment window.

"It doesn't mean that I am a bad person. I am not a criminal. I am a mother," she told officers through a translator

Protestors argue the program undermines relationships between immigrants and law enforcement authorities and was designed to target violent offenders, not a mother found with $60 and 17 telephone cards.

"It creates an incentive for officers to arrest people just so they can get them down to the station and check their immigration status," said Ajmel Quereshi with the ACLU in Maryland.

I wish every single one of these idiots would DIAF. This woman is in our country illegally, engaging in illegal activity, and we're supposed to feel sorry for her??

What a bunch of bull####.

In My Opinion
Dont let the (non-existant) border gate hit her in the ass on the way back across.

The fact that this woman had to explain her situation with a TRANSLATOR... says it all.. The idiot doesn't even have the courtesy to speak the language of the place she wants to call her home... GTFO!!!! :loser:

There's an official language in the United States of America?

However, since the vast majority of us speak English, we can safely say that our official unofficial language is...English.

I hate that stupid twaddling - "Oh, people can speak whatever language they want here! There is no official language! If immigrants cannot communicate with Americans, then Americans all need to learn Mandarin/Sanskrit/Farsi/Spanish/whatever!"

English is the language of our country, and EB had it right.

That's what I thought.

Granted, to get the most out of life in the U.S.A., a person needs to speak the language of the majority of the population, which is english, but that does not make english the official language.

THANK doG..

They FINALLY broke up the $2 phone card ring..

I was living in fear that one day one of my kids wouldn't be able to resist the pull of the illicit $2 phone card..

Then it would be all downhill, research has shown that the $2 phone card is the gateway phone..

First it's the $2 phone card, then the pay as you go text messaging.. Cricket.. Then they turn to the hard stuff, and NOTHING can keep them from their ENV and their unlimited text.. Most will stop there and resort to other petty crimes like work to get their fix.. but others will move on to the life altering, addictive DROID!! Their lives will be in shambles, their children will no longer recognize them as they use street lingo like 'root' and 'apps' at the dinner table. Their sons and daughter will find them staring blanky, giggling at the DROID on the table watching the bubble level..

OH THE HUMANITY!!

Never said that.

My ancestors leaned to speak english to fit into society here. Immigrants can, and should, too.

I never said that anyone should learn another language to accomodate idiots without the common sense to learn the de facto (yet still unofficial) language of the land they're in.

If she can't communicate, let her babble incoherently in her native language as they run her out of town. Maybe next time she'll buy a Crackhead to English Dictionary before she illegally returns from whatever border they send her over.

You come into this country illegally, you should be put on a sinking freighter and sent back to the helllhole you call home.

2nd offense should be 10 lashes with a cane, Indonesian style, and then repeat #1.

3rd offense should be 5 years turning big rocks into little rocks in a prizon run by Sherrif Joe, then 50 lashes and repeat #1.

Then what were you nitpicking about? English is the language of our country, as EB stated. Just not the "official" language, and she didn't say it was.
Plenty of LEGAL immigrants need translators too.

Heck, you just about need a translator to understand some of the native born citizens. Try going into the hills of Appalachia where my grandfater came from and try talking to them.

Power with Control
County police spokesman Maj. Andy Ellis said Lorenzo-Desimilian was one of 10 people arrested by the county gang unit this year while looking into illegal home businesses in Langley Park. Ellis said home-trading in phone cards, food, alcohol and other goods have led to three homicides so far this year since the businesses sometimes sell alcohol and have connections to street gangs.

Hmm, gang unit. So, she wasnt stopped at a red light, nor for jaywalking.
