The answer is who the stereotypical firelane parker is.
Here's my take.
A fat ass (though I couldn't see it because it was planted in the truck), middle age, redneck. Got that camo hat, the Redskin flags on his SUV/Pickup truck and he not only parks IN the fire lane, he parks across the cross walk.
And why does he do it? Well it would appear Earl is waiting for Laverne to come out of the store. When Laverne does exit the grocery store, Earl makes no effort to help her load the vehicle, he just sits there like the jackass he is and smokes his cigarette.
When she's loaded and ready to go he tosses the butt out the window and proceeds to almost hit a pedestrian in the cross walk (as he cusses them out).
So on this day, at this time, we know who parks in that cross walk
Oh, as he drove away I called him by name - JACKASS!
