Will he be looking for work once GEICO fires him? Or maybe run for elective office?

Sorry, but this wasn't the venue for his rant. this is a charity event sponsored by a branch of the US military, and not the right place to vent political thought. I do love the guy, but this was wrong.

Yeah, seems like he was banking on the belief that most people there would agree with him... but he should have stayed away from it, at least after the initial mention.

I am not surprised he did it, though; he's an in-your-face type guy, so that outspoken nature goes where he goes.

Yeah: Everybody should stay away from it, and just let it continue on.

Bullsh!t. The guy has balls, we need that. It's time we stopped letting this a-wipe in the White House and political socialists in the Congress destroy our nation.

It's time to speak out, before it's too late.

When you introduce a guy to the strains of a poorly-performed version of "Paint It Black" you have to expect there's no sense of propriety at that performance. He was entirely within his rights to say what he did, where he did it and and when he did it. It looked like a game show anyway with the judges at the table in the front of the stage.

Dude. He was signed on to do a job, and "expressing personal political beliefs" was probably not in the contract.

Time and a place for everything...

I mean, jeez, what's next? Showing up at some kid's birthday party and at the cake-cutting, standing up and saying, "Billy, I wish you many more years of health and happiness! But whatever you do, don't grow up to be one of those god forsaken money-grabbing socialist pricks!"

I'd be perfectly ok with that.

Ya know, I can totally hear him saying this last comment!

This is who the guy is and what his reputation is -- straight-shooting tell-it-like-it-is, tough sh*t if you don't like it. I'm sure whoever signed him up to do this was well aware of that.

If they wanted "class" they could have gone for a ring-knocker or one of the wine drinkers from Newport.

Are you implying that this is inappropriate?

Pardon me. Allow me to be more clear...

Hell yes, you are damn frickin' right I am saying this was inappropriate!! This was a Toys For Tots charity event for crying out loud, you numbskulls! Would you like for me to call up your mama and tell her too?! :tap:

Well, you could call my mama and tell her exactly what you just said but considering that my mama pointed out to my sister that the proper terminology for writing on the car that parked in the yellow hash marks of the Handicapped space at the outlets (forcing handicapped mom to squeeze out of car) would be "d*ckhead" instead of just "d*ck", Mama probably won't be giving you the reaction you think you'd be getting.

Now, I do agree with you that a Toys for Tots charity event really wasn't the place for political comment. However, this guy isn't known for his tact and social skills. They knew what they were getting.

Good... for a minute there I thought I may have committed a faux pas at my daughter's BFF's birthday party.

Sorry folks, I think you are letting your admiration for the man, and your agreement with his political views color your opinion. Simple test, reverse the situation. Were Joy Behar to speak about President Bush's administration during a charity event to benefit kids, you would all be up in arms. And I call BS on that.

He has every right to say what he wants, but to steal attention from the charity event to do so is inappropriate.

Organizers of the event would know exactly what they are getting when they hire him or Joy Behar. No big deal in either being who they are.

Well, if you paid attention his 'rant' was in the context of the poor economy affecting peoples' ability to contribute to charities like Toys for Tots and he's upset that contributions are down because of our bad economy. Political? Yes! Appropriate for the message he was trying to send? Absolutely!

We are outnumbered - they have us pinned on all sides.

On a positive note, this should mean I have clearance to say whatever I want where/whenever I want, regardless the situation or the audience. My social life should be a riot in 2011 - maybe literally! :lmao:

You expect an adult to know appropriate speech for the occasion. A comment that the economy is bad, and donations are down, thats appropriate, getting into the politics of that isn't.
