effect until 4 PM EST this afternoon for the following areas

The District of Columbia

In Maryland this watch includes 8 counties

In central Maryland

Howard Montgomery Prince Georges

In north central Maryland

Carroll Frederick Washington

In southern Maryland

Charles

This is a big line of storms we've been tracking all morning," Hill says. "These storms have a history of producing violent weather with strong wind gusts."

The only local areas that should not be affected are Calvert and St. Mary's counties in Southern Maryland, and the northern neck of Virginia.

...Strong thunderstorms to affect the District of Columbia...
Arlington...Prince Georges...Orange...Greene...Stafford...Madison...
Culpeper...Prince William/Manassas/Manassas Park...southern
Fauquier...Charles...Albemarle...Spotsylvania and Fairfax counties...

At 1159 am EST...Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms along a
line extending from Clifton to 2 miles southwest of Earlysville...
moving east at 45 mph.

Locations impacted include Ravensworth...Cismont...Lois...Five
Forks...North Springfield...Lincolnia...Campbell...Cobham...
Alexandria and Sumerduck.

Wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph can be expected with this storm.
