Once Upon a Time...
I have to make an unexpected trip.
Lots of driving & won't be back til Sun.

The thing is, I really need an oil change before I go.
Can you tell me where I can go today?
Thanks!

The tire place over by BJ's was doing oil changes for $20.
I think it's "Mr. Tire." Try them.

If you're not in St. Mary's, hit up a Jiffy Lube.

:yeahthat:

Hubby took my car Jiffy lube last month; prior to my taking a trip. Not even 200 miles into the trip, I had to add a quart of oil. My car will typically need a qt of oil after about 2000 miles but never 200. He also paid them to flush the radiator and since then, my "check coolant levels" keeps coming on. Twice, I have had to add antifreeze.

Took my SUV there two weeks ago. They do charge more for a SUV  I think my total was around $30, with the add'l for the SUV and taxes.

With that said, when I saw him walking toward me with my air filter, I thought I was going to have to hurt his feelings and tell him I wouldn't pay their prices for them to put an air filter in for me when I'm quite capable of paying 1/2 their price for a filter and putting it in myself. I was  when the guy spread it out and said, "air filter looks pretty clean, you have at least one more oil change before it needs replacing". EVERY time I get my oil changed, no matter where I go, they've always tried raping me for a new air filter. I have to say, I loved the honesty there. I already knew my air filter was good, I changed it not too long ago :buddies:

Thats why you never, never, never take your car to jiffy lube or Walmart or any jiffy lube type services. Everyone should learn how to change their own oil. Its really quite easy.

the coupon is on the website. Every one I've taken there has always been the same price

I called them and they don't carry my oil filter.

Vrai, being hooked with, through my other forums, with thousands of car enthusiasts around the country, that is incorrect. Never take it to any jiffy Lube, anywhere, ever. Unskilled labor driven by management operating on a hair thin profit margin is never the way to get work done.

Aps, if all you have ever taken there are four cylinder cars, that would be true. But prices do vary. My car takes seven quarts of synthetic. Dealership would like +$80 to change mine.

Chasey, in that case, they would most likely have no objection to you bringing in your own, which should take about 4-8 minutes to find at Autozone. Just do avoid Fram if you can. Stick with Purolator, or Wix, or the factory brand.

Charging more for an SUV, unless it just takes more oil, cracks me up. Easier than most cars, really. My car, takes me twice as long, since I need the ramps, and then have to remove the underbelly pan. About 20 mintues start to finsih. Wifes Blazer, its about 10, since I need no ramps.

I can do the Subaru in 10 but the mazda is a total pain in the a$$, They even sell aftermarket filter relocation kits for it.

Some are indeed a pain. Sister in Laws Escort? That filter is about halfway up the backside of the block, horizontal, of course. Like a damn Chinese finger trap getting your arm in there. and of course, being horizontal, spills oil all over the back half of the front suspension. Stupid design. Like my old Dodge 2.2, but that one at least was on the front of the block.
